FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often about bookkeeping and annual accounts in the UAE.

Yes. Since corporate tax was introduced, proper bookkeeping is mandatory – regardless of whether any tax is due in the end. Records relevant to corporate tax must be kept for seven years after the end of the tax period, VAT records for five years.
Above certain revenue thresholds yes, and for every Qualifying Freezone Person in any case. Anyone wanting to use the zero rate in the Freezone cannot avoid the audit. We prepare the accounts audit-ready and accompany the review.
The corporate tax return is due within nine months after the end of the tax period. You normally file the VAT return quarterly, larger businesses monthly. We track the dates and get in touch in good time.
Yes. During onboarding we set up the chart of accounts, tools and document flow – including for companies that have been running for a while. We work through open periods so the next set of accounts starts clean.
With Zoho Books, QuickBooks or Xero. All three are established in the UAE, handle VAT correctly and can be connected to an e-invoicing provider – which becomes mandatory for most companies from 2027.
